About us

Belmont Baptist Church was formed in a private home on May 4, 1907. During the first two years, services were held at the town hall. The people of Belmont raised $300 with hopes of purchasing a vacant church in the nearby town of Lisbon. The State Board of Northern Baptists decided to give the church building, furniture, and bell to the congregation. Dismantling and rebuilding the church on the current site was completed on May 1, 1909. In 1974, a new larger church was built on the same property. In 2004, a major expansion of the church took place with a new worship center, classrooms, library, nursery, bathrooms, and offices to support our growing church family.

The purpose of the church shall be to maintain divine worship and to promote the fellowship and edification of the saints by the teaching and preaching of the Holy Word of God; to propagate the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ at home and abroad by every Scriptural means possible, and to license and ordain men to the Gospel ministry who have given evidence that they are chosen of God for His special services.
